Laro Tape launches sustainable 'monta biopack' in the fight against 'plastic soup'.
OMMEN – For the first time, biodegradable adhesive tape is available in the Netherlands that can be recycled. The sustainable packaging tape 'monta biopack' is marketed by Laro Tape from Ommen.
After use, the adhesive tape is broken down within a few months in industrial composting installations. For this, the tape is the first in Europe to be certified by the TÜV Austria, which has awarded the OK Compost Industrial quality mark. This means that monta biopack meets the strict requirements and standards in the field of compostability, biodegradability, eco-toxicity and material properties.
Although it does not have a quality mark for this, the adhesive tape can also be collected separately for plastic recycling or incinerated in energy from waste plants.
The packaging industry can use the tape for sealing cardboard boxes or sealing biodegradable bags and films, florists and gardeners for bundling flowers or garden waste. The tape can also be used by green web shops, organic shops or manufacturers of organic products.
With this innovative packaging tape, Laro Tape is responding to the growing demand for environmentally friendly alternatives on the packaging market and wants to contribute to reducing the 'plastic soup'. "In conversations with customers, we were often asked when we would come up with a biodegradable and compostable alternative. Now we can answer that question from the market," says director Koen Rolvink.
The tape was developed by the German company Monta. The film is bio-based and the natural rubber adhesive consists of 90 percent renewable raw materials. Compostability has not been at the expense of strength. The tape can withstand temperatures from minus 30 to plus seventy degrees. Laro Tape is the preferred partner of monta biopack in the Netherlands.
